Another Broadlands group...but on the up and up, this time.

Broadlands Residents for BRMC has started a website. This group is not funded by HCA, whereas Concerned Citizens of Broadlands is financed in large part by INOVA. INOVA publicly acknowledged giving the group money, so this is not news. That this Resident's Group is paying their own freight tends to give me a better window into the unbiased truth over there.

And for more facts that make quite a bit of sense, go here:

UPDATE: I attended the public input last night. INOVA, in usual fashion, bussed in employees to parade in front of the Commission, and I've got to say that I was appalled with the behavior of the INOVA crowd. They were reminded SEVERAL times thruout the evening to remain civil and tolerant to the opposing views, but they remained defiant and obnoxious thruout the evening. HCA supporters were not only tolerant, but very respectful of the opposition points.
This may have backfired on INOVA, because I noticed several of the Commissioners were annoyed with the INOVA supporter's behavior.

The Broadlands HOA board is also being sued for using their official positions for their personal agendas in supporting the hospital.
Who is paying their legal bills????
Is it HCA??????

Is it the residents of the broadlands using the dues they pay???

Just who is paying these legal bills????????

You may also want to know that Bruce & Christine Biggs filed a lawsuit against the Broadlands HOA last week. Upon review of the case I noticed the same law firm McCandlish Lillard is also the same firm that Inova retained a few weeks ago. Very interesting stuff

Furthermore. why are some using the law to solve INOVA's obvious problems? And who is paying THEIR legal fees?

Anonymous...EXACTLY. I had just released your comment from moderation and hadn't seen that info yet when I responded to Lee....
So it starts lining up, doesn't it?
It would appear that INOVA's agenda is being worked THRU the Biggs.

Monk - no worries on the comment, I still love being apart of the posse and have my silver star from last years BenOverBeerBash.

Last night was just another Inova side show. I was pleased to hear one of the PC tell the audience to have respect for the speakers. I am concerned about Sandra's comments about the Rte 50 corridor and I think her question about the CPAM applicant should have been answered that it was in fact INOVA who submitted the healthcare CPAM. That fact would have been an enlightening moment for audience members.

All this is amatuer hour, the real hard core lawsuits are yet to come. Which could delay this hospital into eternity, and will happen whether the BOS approves this hospital or not. That is when the A team lawyers jump in.

Right now you have the Broadlands HOA being sued by their neighbors for taking a official HOA stand for approval of this hospital. So who is paying Cliff and his boards legal bills?????? From the Broadlands HOA DUES????? From HCA???? or are they paying their own legal bills??????
So if this county wants to see a second hospital in this county anytime soon, move it to the Brambleton area, which would be a perfect compromise. Further these lawsuits are going to get a lot nastier and costly, because both hospitals have big bucks and the best lawyers money can buy. We are only seeing the warm up law suits. Personally I believe the Broadlands HOA officers that that took a vote on this hospital probably don't have a clue how bad these lawsuits can and will get against them and how costly they can get both in time and money. Just sad to see us citizens being denied possibly for a lot of years a second hospital because of all this.

The public input was indeed just another sideshow from INOVA, and in my long career of elections and initiatives, the ruder side ALWAYS loses.
When you drop into the gutter (as these folks and their supporters did on Wednesday evening)you strike a chord with the people to know almost instantly what right and wrong are. The Planning Commission , using this indicator...would instantly rule in favor of HCA. INOVA had better thank their stars that there is other criteria that the PC will be using.

Lee, I'm just not exactly suprised that you've flip-flopped once again.
Isn't it just very interesting that the same lawyers are handling INOVA AND the Bigg's cases?? This is one of the most peculiar coincedences I may have ever witnessed.

Bulletproof I would not call it flip flopping, just thinking out loud. Number one problem getting this hospital built on this site anytime soon will be litigation on both sides, as I said before. You have two determined hospitals with deep pockets and that is a recipe for many years of litigation before any construction can start. All those pro hospital people think once there is BOS approval construction will start and I believe it will be years and years if HCA wins and this is going to the state supreme court and I know first hand that is years and years and then after they rule there still can be more years of litigation. It has already started with Cliff Kierce and his board members being sued and knowing them i don't think they have a clue what they have gotten themselves into. Oh they will say right now they are not worried but when everything they wrote, everything they did for HCA including anything they got innocent or not. Hell Cliff has posted in the WP he would like to have a beer at clydes and talk over the hospital with Rebecca who is leading the CCB. THat is the kind of things that will go to his credibility in court. Further the biggest problem will be the potential heliport in the future, and the hospital has said they are keeping that option open in the future, that could blow the deal with some of the undecided BOS right there. And another problem is hospitals are always expanding even after there initial build out. Always saying it is in the public interest. And rarely get turned down. Further the the office site plan is not what would ever be built it is a place holder as we call when you are trying to sell a piece of land. Designers lay these out but they never get built that way. Class A office developers these days want to be good neighbors and go out of the way to mitigate problems with their neighbors. The Broadlands residents for the hospital on their site are just using it as a scare tactic no different then what INOVA does.

Oh...so sitting down with the opposition (CCB) makes one the "devil", huh? Consider me the "devil", Lee. I've sit down for a beer with many I've been in opposition to. That's how problems get solved, Lee.

You back on the heliport? Jeez, Loise. IF (a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he landed) the heliport ever becomes a viable (boy, what a stretch)option, it'll go straight back to the BOS for an up or down. And I don't think they'll get permission that time.
If INOVA chooses to litigate(and I fully expect that they will, given their sorry history on fair and open competition)it'll be the final indication that they are indeed the bully I called them a couple of postings back... (At what point do you stop being a vital and vibrant part of the comunity...and become the County bully??)

Read the preliminary feedback from the Planning Commission. It appears that they are going to reccomend approval of the Special Exception. The final will come later , after another meeting...
But as they left it at this point, HCA looks like a go with the Planning Commission.
