Happy New Year to all my readers

Here's hoping the New Year brings you health and happiness.
2010 also brings with it the hope of ridding some of the dead weight in Washington.

If you're one of those who got elected to office to do the people's work --but forgot that, and started to serve your own agenda...you might want to brace yourself. The Monk, and his buddies, are coming for you.

Warner and Webb...I've told you repeatedly that any attempt to vote for this travesty of a healthcare "fix", while at the same time BANKRUPTING several generations while you're at it -- would be met with a great effort to hoist your sorry asses out of elected office. It'll be time to deliver on that beginning January the 3rd.

Local BOS... We began a journey some 2 years ago to rid this county of the unwelcomed special interest, namely Developers, at the time. What you did in replacing them with a different special interest to suck us all dry is unforgivable.
And we begin in earnest the work that'll be required to rid the county of your excess, too.

Dems of the Congress ... I'll help anywhere, anyway, to assure that you have to go job-hunting after November. Your abysmal, self-serving rhetoric will not be forgotten. I'll have an awful lot of help in that effort, because the American People are right there with me, to the tune of 55%. The latest Generic Ballots suggest that all we really have to do is push the result a little bit, and it'll go cleanly towards putting the adults back in charge.

To those who fight the good fight beside me, I wish you Godspeed, safety and comradery till we meet in 2010.

Top 10 list of corrupt politicians

"Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians," for 2009, formed by Judicial Watch

Right at the top....President Obama!

"The Obama White House believes," said the report from the organization that monitors government for corruption, and sues when it chooses, "it can violate the privacy rights of American citizens without any legal consequences or accountability."

"Moreover, the Obama administration made the startling claim that the Privacy Act does not apply to the White House. The Obama White House believes it can violate the privacy rights of American citizens without any legal consequences or accountability," the report said.

The rest of the cast is listed below from the site.

Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., who also was on the list last year for his corrupt relationship with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for allegedly accepting preferential treatment for himself. In 2009, the report said, the scandals kept coming. He faced an ethics complaint this year for undervaluing a property he owns in Ireland on his federal disclosure forms.

Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., who might be considered one of the year's worst offenders for admitting to an extramarital affair with the wife of one of his staff members, who then allegedly obtained special favors from him in exchange for his silence. "It looks as if Ensign misused his public office (and taxpayer resources) to cover up his sexual shenanigans," Judicial Watch said.

Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., who is being investigated by Judicial Watch in connection with a $12 million TARP cash infusion into the Boston-based OneUnited Bank. He was the congressman who infamously in 2003 announced, "the two Government Sponsored Enterprises we are talking about here, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not in a crisis." The comments came as he worked against GOP efforts to rein in the GSEs, which later created an economic tidal wave through the economy because of their financial losses.

Another is Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, who admitted to failing to pay $34,000 taxes he owed on his lucrative salary at the International Monetary Fund.

Attorney General Eric Holder also is on the list. His record includes obstructing an FBI investigation of the theft of nuclear secrets from Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory; rejecting multiple requests for an independent counsel to investigate alleged fundraising abuses by then-Vice President Al Gore in the Clinton White House; undermining the criminal investigation of President Clinton by Kenneth Starr in the midst of the Lewinsky investigation; and planning the violent raid to seize then-six-year-old Elian Gonzalez at gunpoint in order to return him to Castro's Cuba, Judicial Watch said. He also has dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party stemming from members' actions on Election Day 2008.

Joining the others is Illinois State Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., who was in the center of the scandal in which Blagojevich reportedly tried to sell Obama's vacant Senate seat. "According to the Chicago Sun-Times, emissaries for Jesse Jackson Jr., named 'Senate Candidate A' in the Blagojevich indictment, reportedly offered $1.5 million to Blagojevich during a fundraiser if he named Jackson Jr. to Obama's seat."

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is named for her "sense of entitlement," which is "at the heart of the corruption problem in Washington," Judicial Watch said. "Politicians believe laws and rules (even the U.S. Constitution) apply to the rest of us but not to them. Case in point: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her excessive and boorish demands for military travel. Judicial Watch obtained documents from the Pentagon in 2008 that suggest Pelosi has been treating the Air Force like her own personal airline."

Also, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., who "made headlines in 2009 for all the wrong reasons." Judicial Watch said Murtha is under investigation for his relationship with the now-defunct defense lobbyist PMA Group. That was founded by a former Murtha associate and has been his largest campaign contributor.

Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, who has been unable to explain how he forgot to pay taxes on $75,000 in rental income, or how his congressional office was able to raise funds for his private Rangel Center by reportedly swapping a tax loophole for donations. Further, he's accused of making financial donations to other members of Congress who are assigned to investigate his actions.

All these self-agrandizing simpletons have alot of nerve pointing a finger at anyone else.

PATH files an amended Motion to Withdraw

Yesterday PATH filed an amended Motion to Withdraw from the Virginia SCC proceeding, this time promising they won't come back in early 2010 with a new application (no promises we won't see them later in 2010).

In the amended motion, PATH admits that new tests run by PJM Interconnection show that "the PATH Project appears not to be needed in 2014." These new tests, which were ordered by Virginia Hearing Examiner Alexander Skirpan, take into account the latest demand and generation numbers, and also incorporate expected reductions in demand due to energy efficiency and load management.

This is exactly the type of analysis that should be done before a utility applies for a transmission project, and that PEC has been pushing for over the past three years.

I sat thru the testimony as late as last November, where PATH was still insisting that their numbers were correct, when ..in just one month, they've now admitted they were not correct. Many in the community had said their numbers were nothing more than lies all along.

Good riddance, PATH...and as more and more alternative power is unleashed in New Jersey, and as the need for coal power diminishes with every passing year --- you may never be welcomed to try again.

Candace Strothers announces

Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans,

The Task at Hand:

On November 3, 2009, as a result of the hard work and dedication of hundreds of wonderful volunteers like you in Loudoun County and countless more across all the counties of Virginia, the political calculus in our Commonwealth changed. On that night our conservative candidates regained control of the Statehouse and the House of Delegates. This great victory brings us in Loudoun County both enormous opportunity and great responsibility. We Republicans must now work with state and national party officials to build on this momentum by setting the tone and vision for our party, while effectively managing our party process to implement winning grassroots strategies for our candidates in Loudoun in 2010 and 2011. There is so much at stake in those two elections for our County, for our Commonwealth and for our Nation. The LCRC needs a Chair with the experience, the skills, the strength and vision to bring together the teams, the resources and the ideas necessary to develop the current momentum for victory in those elections.

My Beliefs:

I am running for LCRC Chair because I believe it is imperative to keep the momentum going from our tremendous wins statewide and the gains we made here in Loudoun County. I believe that holding to our core values and promoting the central conservative issues of fiscal responsibility, limited government and lower taxes is the winning model, as it was for the McDonnell, Bolling, Cuccinelli ticket. I believe there is still much to do to grow that model at the County level. I believe I have the experience and the leadership necessary to deliver this strategy and most importantly, expand the grassroots organization and unified team effort put in place by our outgoing Chair, Glen Caroline. I will assemble a team of seasoned and new leaders that will build and expand the party in 2010, laying the groundwork for a strong win in our 10th District Congressional race. Strengthening the party in 2010 will position us to keep fiscally responsible Republicans in the winning column in the myriad of local Loudoun races in 2011. With strong wins in 2010 and 2011, we will position Loudoun to enter the 2012 Presidential election cycle unified, organized and mobilized. I am confident I can bring the Party together, focused on these goals and motivated as a winning team. I believe I am the seasoned leader who can be the catalyst for this vision.

My Experience:

I have extensive political and campaign experience at both the national and local level. I cut my teeth in politics during the rise of Ronald Reagan and was honored to be chosen to serve in his White House. In President Reagan’s Office of Public Liaison I focused on outreach to dozens of constituent groups on a variety of administration policies. I also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration where I directed strategic planning including regulatory priorities, international activities and training. Later I served as Chief of Staff to the Solicitor at the Interior Department under President George HW Bush. I also have worked with the RNC in two national elections serving as advisor to senior campaign principals.

Here in Loudoun, I have served as precinct captain, organized the Ashburn farmers market, organized and emceed the successful Women for McDonnell event for Sheila Johnson and was asked by the McDonnell campaign to emcee the Leesburg rally with Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli at which over 200 were in attendance. In addition, I helped organize and raise funds for a successful fundraiser with McDonnell Campaign Chair, Ed Gillespie and served as Co-Chair of Women for McCain. I am a grassroots conservative having also done “the hard work of freedom” as Bob McDonnell says by making hundreds of phone calls, organizing walks and knocking hundreds of doors for our candidates.

My Promise:

As LCRC Chair I will work with our local party members and elected officials, state and national party officials, be a leader that sets the tone and vision for the local party, reach out to like minded constituent groups, improve fundraising and effectively manage the process and procedure of local party business. I will use the McDonnell, Bolling Cuccinelli model to unify the party and implement winning grassroots strategies in order to ensure future victory for our candidates in Loudoun in 2010 and 2011 AND 2012.

I will be laying out more of my ideas and plans in the future and welcome your thoughts on what is most important to you for our committee as we move forward. I have assembled an initial steering committee to manage my campaign. They are as follows:

Steering Committee Chair:
Glen Caroline- LCRC Chair;Jeff Maged - LCRC First Vice Chair
Kristen Kalina- LCRC Second Vice Chair; Kai Zhang- LCRC Treasurer
Mary Gail Swenson- LCRC Secretary, RPV State Central Committee
John Millhiser- LCRC Parliamentarian; David D’Onofrio- LCRC Headquarters Chair
Tom Seeman- LCRC Precinct Operations Chair; Randy Minchew, Former LCRC Chair
Greg Stone- Potomac District Chair; Debbie Rose -Sugarland Run District Chair
Ben Belrose- Blue Ridge District Chair
David Ramadan- Dulles District Chair, RPV Ethnic Coalitions Committee

Dean Coursen LCRC Sergeant at Arms
Joe Scalione Broad Run District Chairman

Ben Nelson, twisted one way deals, and general corrupt practices in America

Anybody find it unusual that Harry Reid would leverage with tactics that favors the one vote he needed to screw us?? He'll gladly threaten to close military bases in Nebraska, as well as pay it's medicaid for perpetuity.

"The new bill has the federal government permanently paying 100 percent of the cost to expand Medicaid in Nebraska, while other states will pay 2.2 percent of the price to expand the program to millions of uninsured Americans.

Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) took a harsher view of the provision. "You've got to compliment Ben Nelson for playing the Price is Right." Burr said. "He negotiated a Medicaid agreement for Nebraska that puts the federal government on the hook forever. This isn't the Louisiana Purchase, it's the Nebraska windfall...this isn't how this process is supposed to work."

All this, after threatening Nelson with a huge base closure if he didn't comply.
The stink in Washington just keeps rising. Just as you think they can't and won't stoop any lower....they do.

Republican Unity now more than ever.

A Guest Post by Tom Seeman, Precinct Operations Chair, LCRC.

We achieved a tremendous victory in 2009. Bob McDonnell was elected governor with over 61% of the vote in Loudoun County, with his running mates Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli receiving similar margins. Every Republican delegate whose district is completely or partially in Loudoun won by a commanding margin as well. As our Chairman Glen Caroline said, we won because we had better candidates, a better message, and a better ground game.

Of those three, the only one we can really control is the ground game. This involves a massive effort by large numbers of people to carry out activities such as phone banking, door to door canvassing, participation in special events such as festivals and parades, and distributing candidate signs.

We were successful in these activities because we were united in purpose. All Republicans worked to achieve the victory of all candidates. We knew that the stakes were high, and everyone worked together.

Certainly there will be times when we disagree over who will be the best candidate. The primary process is the forum by which we discuss and debate this matter. However, once the candidate is chosen, it is important that we unite to achieve our common goal. When we do this, we win.

Mark Sell comes out as a Chairman Candidate

Mark Sell asked to speak to the Reston Republican Club Christmas gathering last night. He announced he'd be seeking the Chairman's position at the Loudoun County Mass Meeting to be held in March of 2010.
I strongly urge those who want to win in 2010 to do more than just support Candace Strother. You'll need to reach out to your friends and associates and pass on the message that Candace is the choice for continued winning in Loudoun County.

I haven't yet heard the reasons why Mr. Sell is running, but I do know that Candace is a veteran in these matters, and her resume is long and distinguished. She, and she alone, is the path forward to winning 2010 elections in Loudoun County, because she actually was a member of the winning team that brought you a 3 point increase in republican support over the rest of NoVa in 2008, and the highest degree of VICTORY in Virginia in 2009.

I know Mr. Sell, and he's a nice enough guy, but I definitely disagree with the path I know he'll set before us. He was instrumental in the division of the Committee during the dark years. Folks, we've come WAAAYYY too far to turn back now.

It is only appropriate on this day to expose the fraud.

Read the links here. Don't turn your nose up because you don't want to be de-programmed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the wealth of evidence in analyzing the diminishing "Ice shelf" under the polar bears. (I laugh uncontrollably when I see Noah what's-his-name do the pitch for the polar bears. It's such a heartstring tugger, that one has to realize that they filmed it to be exactly that.
Send your money...and you'll absolve some of that guilt.)

Looks like all of that science has been debunked - with a healthy dose of "tricked" data references and exposed data e-mails. We went from "global warming" to "climate change"(that excluded that WARMING word, since it snowed in some generally pretty warm places when they featured the dimestore prophet, Al Gore) and now we're moving onto "CO2 abatement".

Should be pretty easy to difuse this, since we emit CO2 and trees and plants love the stuff. Look, if this summit were solely about deforestation, I could probably get behind that....but pushing for the effort to save something that data clearly had to be "tricked" to keep us on a page....won't fly.

The Telegraph chimes in.

"When your attempt at recreating the Congress of Vienna with a third-rate cast of extras turns into a shambles, when the data with which you have tried to terrify the world is daily exposed as ever more phoney, when the blatant greed and self-interest of the participants has become obvious to all beholders, when those pesky polar bears just keep increasing and multiplying – what do you do?

No contest: stop issuing three rainforests of press releases every day, change the heading to James Bond-style “Do not distribute” and “leak” a single copy, in the knowledge that human nature is programmed to interest itself in anything it imagines it is not supposed to see, whereas it would bin the same document unread if it were distributed openly.

After that, get some unbiased, neutral observer, such as the executive director of Greenpeace, to say: “This is the single most important piece of paper in the world today.” Unfortunately, the response of all intelligent people will be to fall about laughing; but it was worth a try – everybody loves a tryer – and the climate alarmists are no longer in a position to pick and choose their tactics.

But boy! Was this crass, or what? The apocalyptic document revealing that even if the Western leaders hand over all the climate Danegeld demanded of them, appropriately at the venue of Copenhagen, the earth will still fry on a 3C temperature rise is the latest transparent scare tactic to extort more cash from taxpayers. The danger of this ploy, of course, is that people might say “If we are going to be chargrilled anyway, what is the point of handing over billions – better to get some serious conspicuous consumption in before the ski slopes turn into saunas.”

This “single most important piece of paper in the world” comes, presumably, from an authoritative and totally neutral source? Yes, of course. It’s from the – er – UN Framework Committee on Climate Change that is – er – running the Danegeld Summit. Some people might be small-minded enough to suggest this paper has as much authority as a “leaked” document from Number 10 revealing that life would be hell under the Tories.

This week has been truly historic. It has marked the beginning of the landslide that is collapsing the whole AGW imposture. The pseudo-science of global warming is a global laughing stock and Copenhagen is a farce. In the warmist camp the Main Man is a railway engineer with huge investments in the carbon industry. That says it all. The world’s boiler being heroically damped down by the Fat Controller. Al Gore, occupant of the only private house that can be seen from space, so huge is its energy consumption, wanted to charge punters $1,200 to be photographed with him at Copenhagen. There is a man who is really worried about the planet’s future.

If there were not $45trillion of Western citizens’ money at stake, this would be the funniest moment in world history. What a bunch of buffoons. Not since Neville Chamberlain tugged a Claridge’s luncheon bill from his pocket and flourished it on the steps of the aircraft that brought him back from Munich has a worthless scrap of paper been so audaciously hyped. There was one good moment at Copenhagen, though: some seriously professional truncheon work by Danish Plod on the smellies. Otherwise, this event is strictly for Hans Christian Andersen"

The Stoneman and the Monk

Back in 2006, Greg Stone and I didn't much like each other. We really knew each other only in passing, and had our perceptions of each other, drawn only of a thin sliver of running the same circles, but never really having had the opportunity to speak to each other. When we held a Mass Meeting on a cold day in March of 2008, all of that was about to change.

As we joined to elect Glen Caroline as our Unit Chairman in that meeting, we both ended up on the same side of the room in a last moment fiasco by the "old guard" moments before Caroline made a prophetic statement that stays with me even today.

"I promise that under my leadership, you will never see this committee divide itself again."

True to his word, we set out to redefine the local Unit as an "activated" group. Noone would sit on this new Unit without some measure of demonstrated activity. As the McCain election cycle approached, we threw ourselves headlong into our new assignments.
What never registered (although I fully expect Glen knew) was that fighting alongside of each other in those trenches against a common enemy, a newfound respect for one another blossomed.

In all of this, I had come to know Greg well enough to know that he didn't really even like McCain...but in the heat of the campaign, he never showed that. Everytime I saw Greg Stone, his shoulder was in the wheel. He pushed for the McCain ticket with every bit of himself. He left nothing on the field. That paid off in a 3 point lead over our surrounding counties and peers. That number somehow got lost in the tidal wave of Obama. But make no mistake...our enemy came from as far away as Ohio, Columbia University in New York, and sent lawyers from nearly every state...to Virginia, the battleground. And we engaged them as a homegrown team. And we cut the loss in Loudoun County to 6 points. The Caroline Formula worked. But the competition threw a truck at us.

Later, in the 2009 cycle for McDonnell, we again hit those trenches and in a refreshing race where the Obama "Machine" didn't show up. I'm not sure whether it had been dissassembled after 2008, or if not enough of the parts survived to make the trip to Virginia. The SEIU showed up, but very little of the original machine did.
Greg and I, having history...good history..behind us, rolled up our sleeves and waded into the 2009 cycle. We worked well together, and I discovered that Greg was a very intelligent, reasoned guy who had a passion for good numbers over fudged ones, straight shooters on the Second Amendment, and common sense solutions that don't involve another Government growth cycle.

This whole story's point? Unity always wins. It gives you allies you didn't have. Those allies have valuable talents and skillsets. I cannot begin to impress the importance of unity in the local unit, or Statewide units. Glen Caroline has shown all of us..if you focus on the enemy and not each other, you win. It's a point that cannot be argued. The proof is right here in the heart of the 10th District's NUMBER ONE UNIT, as well as our representation by the NUMBER ONE UNIT CHAIR IN VIRGINIA for 2009.

McGimsey's faulty memory.

In light of the most recent actions by this woman (who I supported to get rid of yet another Supervisor who had forgotten where the line was drawn) from the dais, or using it in one way or another to secure jobs and clients that she should have known would be in conflict with her representation of Loudoun County. If Tulloch were doing this, she'd have already blown an artery...I guarantee it.

I'll try really hard not to use "HYPOCRITE" here.

Andrea McGimsey quotes:

“This set of public hearings will likely be the last; they will want to move fast. That said, any delay on this terrible proposal would be good”

Interestingly, she now wants to push this public input about a week and a half before Christmas.

“No to greater county debt and rising taxes”

Somewhere, someone is snickering and shaking their head violently at the partisan hypocrisy in that sentence. This board just spent $250K on a cut and paste document, complete with advertisements for it's authors, all while it advocates for further studies (now you understand the advertising)on setting policies to tell us which cars to select and what in our homes must be corrected before we can obtain a building permit. All which will costs us more money, even if they don't collect it in "taxes".

“Due to confusion by Supervisor Tulloch’s last minute proposal to change the CPAM, we’re not sure what the Board of Supervisors is proposing now … The Board should hold a public input session where the Board and county staff explain what the proposal is now. We don’t have a fiscal analysis … We ask you to then hold a new set of public hearings so we can give you meaningful input.”

McGimsey should take this advice herself. We need A LOT of discovery on exactly what we'll be on the hook for if we agree to this CES. Where is the $2 MIL going to come from NEXT year??? Yours and my taxes?

“We need to show the supervisors that it is in their best interest to listen to the citizens and do the right thing. If hundreds of us show up, that will make them think hard about what is in their and the citizens’ best interest”

Again, McGimsey should dig back thru and reread this comment. It does indeed behoove her to listen to the citizens. Instead of working with Waters on a plan to do what is necessary to secure the Government grant THIS year, and readdressing what the long term plans might be...she prefers to lock us into a longterm plan right now.
People who actually united to help Andrea get into office are backing away from support on this particular display of a conflict of interest.

Candace Strother for a seamless transition in the Loudoun GOP

My good friend, Glen Caroline, having graduated to the absolute top of his game in the local party, will not seek another term, and has thrown his broad shoulders behind Candace Strother to replace him in the Chairman's position.
I heartily and readily endorse her as a great choice.

What the Committee needs now is a continuation of the combined strength of all factions. As Caroline noted thruout his term, we're much stronger together. And in his tenure, he proved that...twice delivering numbers that passed his peers in neighboring counties. We need someone who can build on that platform and continue the work with fellow chapters in Fairfax and in Prince Williamm Counties to carry NoVa for republican candidates.

Ms. Strother, who may be a distant relative (as are all Strother, Merryman and Wharton lineages)is a local businesswoman, but has a very solid background as well.

From her bio on her website: "Candace's extensive government experience in Washington DC includes the White House, the Executive Office of the President and the Cabinet Offices of Labor and Interior. Her responsibilities ranged from management and budgets to communications and congressional affairs. As Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration she directed agency strategic planning including regulatory priorities, international activities and training. As the Interior Department Chief of Staff to the Solicitor she directed strategic planning, chaired the management advisory group and directed external relations with the Congress, media, executive branch and interest groups. While at the White House Office of Public Liaison, she led issue briefings for individuals and organizations to promote administration policies and prepared issue briefing memoranda for the President and his senior staff.

Earlier, Candace worked in the media in Michigan and Washington. Her radio and television experience includes investigative journalism, reporting and anchoring an evening local television news show. She has done media coaching for a Washington think tank and coordinated public relations with broadcast media for national and international news programs. She has also provided voice overs for radio commercials aired in the Washington area as well as narrations for corporate industrial films.

Candace has a long history of involvement in civic and community organizations as well as not-for-profits. She has worked with the American Red Cross Board of Governors. She currently advises Project HOPE, an international humanitarian and health education organization, on strategies to expand partnerships with top corporate leaders across the country."

I welcome Candace to the leadership, and I support her in every capacity to continue Glen's excellent work. Onward and upwards, Candace!

Update: I had the opportunity to speak with Candace at the Conservative Volunteer Recognition Banquet last night. I support her even more at this point. She will be a valuable asset to the direction we're moving in, and will definitely keep the Unit moving in the direction that Chairman Caroline did.

How's that healthcare thing working out ??

How IS that healthcare thing working out for those it is supposed to "help"?
Seems alot like it is intended to dig even deeper into the lower ranks' pockets in order to gratify those "elite" know-it-alls, while it finances even more toys for them. But, as I've said before....they know best for you, because you're a mere peon, and you can't be trusted with such weighty decisions...like how much they'll lighten your pockets.
