Infinite Wisdom......

In no particular order...but there are some doozies in here.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Honesty is the first chapter of the book of wisdom.

Never spend your money before you have it.

Never trouble another for what you can do for yourself.

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. (fore-telling of the actual takeover in 1916 by the not-so-federal-reserve???)

If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

An association of men who will not quarrel with one another is a thing which has never yet existed, from the greatest confederacy of nations down to a town meeting or a vestry.

Delay is preferable to error.

Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.

Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own.

Why, none other than ....

-- Thomas Jefferson

Later this week when we cover Abraham Lincoln, the context of the quotes regarding the American Government evolves by about 100 years.

Greenvest Rumblings II

I have just learned that I need to be at the Courthouse steps on Tuesday morning.
Greenvest is in default on their properties, as well in arrears in nearly $100,000 in County property taxes.

"A leading area developer, Leonard S. “Hobie” Mitchel, said he will attend the auction but doesn’t intend to bid because, he understands, the bank is seeking 70 cents on the dollar for the property, which would yield about $91 million, and “it ain’t worth that much.”-- From the original piece

"Court records show that Greenvest secured a loan for $125 million to purchase the 4,123 acres in December 2005. In March 2008, the loan was increased to just over $130 million."

No doubt. When concerned citizens railed against the $20 MIL "sweetheart deal" for 99 of those acres....we actually understood that it was overpriced.

And another thought comes to mind... why did we bother dropping their assessment value, anyway. Obviously, the short term thinking of Ahmad Abdul-Baki wasn't going to be around to pay even the lesser amounts of taxes for long. He started the same game in the 1980's in Texas...and after the boom, he went into bancruptcy then. Advance to 2009, and it looks like that's one of his options again.

Does anyone ever take a positive lesson from a failure anymore?
I'm attending the auction. Stay tuned.

Update: iStar, who Greenvest was on the hook for $130 MIL, was on hand and secured the property for $69 MIL, seriously short of the .70 on the dollar mark.
Randy Rouse, who had a previous school site in contention, had the sharpest quip of the day... He offered that if he were younger, he'd have given his bidding a bit more serious thought... but that at 95, he added “I don’t buy green bananas.”
I like the guy's sense of humor.

Recession over? They're joking, right??

If not, they should focus on the fact that there were 2 year, three year, and five year ARMs that were financed. Sometime in our immediate future...those 5 year ARM loans are going to need their balloon payments or a refinance. Consider that the jobs that have been lost by many who have those ARMs leave those refinances out of the question....
Speaking of unemployment, as I've reported before--- 15 states have reported 10% unemployment when Obama promised that the bail-out would stop job loss at 8%.
And to be fair...some have exhausted their benefits and are no longer being counted in that number-- which makes the artificial number even happier than the reality of the situation.
I'd say that it's a torpedo headed right at Obama's inadequate planning...again. This guy was supposed to be "bright", "talented" and "messiah-like".
So far, all Americans have seen is the bumbling "hot-ready-for-prime-time grab-ass that was predicted by those who looked at his real record.

Add to that ... his personal popularity is diving along with the healthcare debacle....and some 57 % of us do not want democrats working on this problem by themselves. They trust the Republicans an awful lot more with the decisions.

Pile on a report-your-neighbor website that collected e-mails and an overly anxious Axelrod sending out SPAM to those e-mails...and this is approaching a written comedy.
But we can't afford to laugh. If they pass any of this before 2010, we're screwed.
The Calvary is on the way, people. But we need to hold the fort until they arrive.

In 2010, it is now anticipated that the Republicans will make huge gains to combat this lunacy, as I predicted. You cannot lurch to the liberal side when 40 % of us self-identify as conservatives, and a mere 15% self-identify as liberals.
Dissing your constituents and charging them $25 to attend your town hall meeting is a general invitation to insanity, dems. What the hell were you thinking?

Townhalls now bloody....thanks to the Unions.

The opposition has the gall to call us "astroturfers".
SIEU (Service Industries Employees Union)"goons" have been dispatched to numerous town hall meetings to smash opposition from citizens like you and me.
They finally went to far in punching a black man in the face and then kicking him for exercising his First Amendment right. The culprits? Union bulldozers dispatched to intimidate the folks who want to tell their representatives that they ain't happy.
This is only the beginning folks. It's the "Chicago way", and unfortunately, it's bound to meet a plethora of John Friggin' Wayne and Chuck Friggin' Norris tea party bulldozers before long.

Interesting use of accusations against normal everyday Americans, however....
Accusations of swastikas, nooses, etc. Everything old is brand new, huh??

There are plenty of pics out there of Bush's face plastered on a dummy in a noose, too.

And hold on..the hypocrisy of the left isn't over yet...

"I say to the president, Mr. President, if you think that our troops in Iraq are there to fight for democracy, do not destroy it at home by cutting off our freedom of speech. . . . "So I thank all of you who have spoken out for your courage, your point of view. All of it. Your advocacy is very American and very important. . . . There's nothing more articulate, or more eloquent, to a member of Congress than the voice of his or her own constituent. . . . I'm a fan of disruptors,"--Nancy Pelosi, speaking to a San Francisco town hall meeting, Jan. 17, 2006

Greenvest rumblings.

Evil corporation Greenvest is rumored to have divested their acreage.
The downturn in the economy seems to have served at least one purpose, after all.
Details are IN!! Seems it was worse than what I suspected. New story is up.

WHOA!!! What is this???

This looks interesting. A certified copy of a registered birth. To the Obamas. In Kenya. Entered at the District Registry Office the 9th of August, 1961.

Photobucket

The release of the purported Kenyan birth certificate immediately prompted hundreds to challenge its validity.

As the document mentioned here became known as a forgery---I have a huge amount of dissappointment and disdain for the retard who tried to foist it upon us. God knows there's enough proof without manufacturing it.
In most recent news....Obama hasn't opened his records (any of them--so much for transparency, right?)radically changing course from the actions of every president before him since 1988. All of them produced their records (even if some of them did it grudgingly)...but this current guy is somehow above that. I guess he calls this stalling.... "change".

Here's the hypocrite of the week.

Greetings! Oh...further meetings will now be cancelled.

Rep. Tim Bishop, D-N.Y., has called off all of his further events. He tried to have a townhall meeting in Setauket, N.Y., but evidently when the folks weren't thrilled with his message, and the protesters dominated the meeting by shouting criticisms at the congressman for his positions on energy policy, health care and the auto bailout..he called the police and cancelled out. How far out of sync does one have to be?? Tim, I really hope when you're up for reelection, you'll take a lesson from this experience. You're accountable, and the people are not lemmings-- much to your dismay.

Similarly,Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn), Sen. Claire McCaskill(D-MO), Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Tex), Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla),and more locally, Rep. Thomas Perriello, (D-Va) have all had town meetings that started to go off the track they had intended.
This is DIRECTLY proportionate with the tin ear that these Democrats have used to listen to the majority of their voters. In fact...the latest Rasmussen Polling indicates that an alarming 59% of the population of the US does not support Cap N'Trade or health care reform as the Democrats have framed it.

Recently, our old favorite. Diane(It's alright for me to carry a concealed weapon, but not the little people)Feinstein threw several of the elderly out of her Los Angeles office because she didn't like their attitude when they finally figured out that she thought they were expendable in her version of the AARP endorsed bills..

UPDATE: Today, Aug.5th, two more Dems went home to Arkansas to heated Town Halls.
And there are some of the liberal dipshits who insist that the same group is coordinating the outrage at all of these Town Halls...across the country. THAT IS DENIAL, folks.
